On July 16, "3-15" gala exposed the illegal behavior of the "Burger King" in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, using expired bread to make burgers and changing the shelf life of chicken thigh steaks. On the afternoon of August 25, Nanchang Administration for Market Regulation informed the investigation and punishment of Nanchang "Burger King" restaurant, the six Burger King restaurants were fined RMB 910,000; their legal representative was faced a maximum fine, and the main person in charge and the directly responsible person in charge were fined a total of RMB 2.81 million.
The interview footage exposed in the "3-15" gala showed that in Burger King's Nanchang Honggutan Tianhong restaurant, the reporter found that in the process of making burgers, the employees had the behavior of putting a slice of tomato or cheese less. Even after the bread expired, the labeling were replaced and made into burgers sold to customers. At Burger King's Nanchang Wangfujing restaurant, not only expired bread was changed the shelf life and then sold again, but the labeling of expired South American chicken thigh steaks was also revised to extend shelf life.
On August 25, the investigation and punishment of Nanchang "Burger King" restaurant were issued. It was found that all 6 Burger King restaurants in Nanchang City had illegal acts of using food ingredients beyond the shelf life to produce food, which violated the provisions of Article 34(3) of the Food Safety Law. It was also found that the Burger King's Nanchang Honggutan Tianhong restaurant also had illegal activities in hamburger making and cutting corners and harming consumers' rights and interests, which violated the provisions of Article 13 (1) of the Measures for Penalties against Infringement upon Consumers' Rights and Interests.
For the above violations, according to Article 124(1) (b) of the Food Safety Law and Article 15 of the Measures for Penalties against Infringement upon Consumers' Rights and Interests, six stores were imposed administrative penalties of confiscation of illegal income and fines, with a total fine of RMB 916,504.02.
For Nanchang Xinkai Catering Co., Ltd. deliberately using food ingredients beyond the shelf life to produce food, according to the provisions of Article 75(1) (a) of the Regulations for the Implementation of the Food Safety Law, its legal representative was faced a maximum fine, and the main person in charge, directly responsible person in charge and other directly responsible persons were fined accordingly, with a total fine of RMB 2.81 million.
