NHC | 53 "Three Novel Food" Have Been Approved

On June 2, 2020, the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China (NHC) Issued the Announcement on 53 "Three Novel Foods" Including Lactobacillus Helveticus R0052 (No. 4, 2020). Among them, 4 novel food ingredients including Lactobacillus Helveticus R0052, 21 novel food additives including Sanzan gum, and 28 novel food related products, such as zinc dioctanoate, were approved.

 

There are four kinds of novel food ingredient newly approved this time, including Lactobacillus Helveticus R0052, Bifidobacterium infantis R0033, Bifidobacterium bifidum R0071, Penthorum chinense Pursh, and etc. According to the understanding of Antion three strains approved this time can be used in infant and young children formula food are applied for by Canada Lallemand.

 

There are 14 novel food additives have been newly approved, including Sanzan gum, stabilizers and 13 enzyme preparations including Arabinofuranosidase, Polygalacturonase, Pectinlyase, Maltotetraohydrolase, Lactase, Xylanase, Alpha-glucosidase, Lipase, Carboxypeptidase, Alpha-amylase, Protease, Glucose isomerase and Lipase. According to the statistics of Antion, this is the first time in nearly ten years that approve new enzyme preparations in large quantities, most of which are from genetically modified strains. On the one hand, it can enrich the production and processing needs of enterprises, and provide more possibilities for the approval of novel food ingredient in the future.
