On February 20, 2021, the SAMR issued the Available Auxiliary Ingredients and the Use Regulations for Filing Health Food (2021 Edition) and Dosage Form and Technical Requirements of Filing Health Food (2021 Edition), which included powder and gummy in filing health food. It will come into effect on June 1, 2021.

The gummy and powder included in filing health food belongs to the food form, and their technical indicators are not specified in national standards. These technical requirements are detailed in the annex of Dosage Form and Technical Requirements of Filing Health Food (2021 Edition).

Powder is a dry powdered product made of ingredients included in the Catalogue and auxiliary ingredients after crushing and uniform mixing.

Gummy is an elastic and chewy candy which used the ingredients included in the Catalogue of Health Food Ingredients (hereinafter referred to as Catalogue), and made of sugar or syrup or sweetener, edible gum (or starch) and others auxiliary ingredients through the relevant process.

Filling health food using vitamins and minerals as ingredients included in the Catalogue can be made as gummy form. Whether Coenzyme Q10, Fish oil, Sporoderm-broken of ganoderma lucidum spores powder, Spirulina and Melatonin are allowed to be made as gummy will be determined according to the supporting documents of this ingredient.

The implementation of relevant regulation further expands the food formats available for filing health food products, and brings more food formats into filing health food management.
