What is "organic"?

"Organic" refers to a form of agricultural production. In simple terms, organic standards require that chemical synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, growth regulators and genetically engineered organisms and their products are not used in the production process of animals and plants, and natural laws and ecological principles are followed, a series of sustainable agricultural technologies were adopted, the balance of planting and breeding was coordinated, and the virtuous cycle of agricultural ecosystem was maintained. For processing, storage, transportation, packaging, marking, sales and other processes, there is also a set of strict and standardized management requirements.

What does organic food include?

At present, China's organic food mainly includes grains, vegetables, fruits, edible microorganism, tea, meat and meat products, dairy products, edible oils, alcohol and beverages.

What is organic code?

Organic code is a unique code which must be given for each certification mark in accordance with the uniform coding requirements before certification bodies issue certification marks to enterprises that obtained organic product certification or allow manufacturers to print organic product certification mark on product label, to ensure the traceability of organic products.

The organic code consists of 18 digits, including 4 digits of the certification body code, 2 digits of the certification mark issuance year code and 12 digits of the certification mark issuance random code. The "organic code" should be indicated before the certification mark coding.

The organic code of each organic mark needs to be submitted to the "China Food and Agricultural Product Certification Information System" (website food.cnca.cn), where the corresponding organic product name, certification certificate number, certified enterprise and other information can be found.
